MEET AL SAENZ
My name is Al Saenz, and I’m proud to be the youngest of eight siblings. My parents came to this country as immigrants searching for safety from political oppression—oppression that tried to silence their beliefs, their voices, and their faith in democracy. When they arrived here, they found hope, dignity, and the chance to rebuild. Those experiences shaped how they raised us: to work hard, stay grounded, and never take opportunity for granted.
I grew up right here in Precinct 4. The streets, schools, and neighborhoods—from Del Valle to Dove Springs to McKinney Heights—weren’t just places we lived; they were part of our everyday story. They’re where I learned what community really means: looking out for one another, showing up when it matters, and finding strength in shared experiences.
Today, my kids are raising their children in those same neighborhoods. There’s something meaningful about watching them build their own memories where mine began.
For me, Precinct 4 isn’t just a place on the map—it’s part of who I am. It’s the place that shaped my values, challenged me, supported me, and gave my family a chance when they needed it most. And because of that, I feel a deep responsibility to give back to the community that has given so much to us.
THE BEST WAY TO PREDICT THE FUTURE IS TO CREATE IT
